Stellar Column on Racist Trolling penned by me

This month I had the absolute honour of writing an opinion piece for Stellar about the incessant trolling I have received since I was first on screen.

A big thank you to for inviting me as their columnist to write about this uncomfortable, yet incredibly important issue. I can only speak to my personal experience and this is a summarised insight into my journey to date.

Where do you start and where do you end with such a topic? It is immense and all-consuming. I’ve experienced racism ever since I can remember - at school, in workplaces, in friendship groups, society, directly and indirectly from people I know and don’t know, online and offline - and it doesn’t matter what I do or where I go, I cannot escape it and I am Australian born - I cannot even fathom the adversity other minorities must face daily. When I first penned this piece, the first draft was about 2500 words in its entirety - when it’s your life story and forms so much of your identity, it’s hard to know which “parts” are more important than others and of course, the whole thing is super triggering.

I may share this with you all in due course, however in the interim I want to thank the team here for encouraging and guiding me, holding the space and amplifying my voice in Australia’s most-read Sunday magazine. I believe it is needed - Pick up a copy of The Sunday Herald Sun (Victoria), The Sunday Telegraph (NSW), The Sunday Mail (Queensland), Sunday Mail (SA) and Sunday Tasmanian (Tasmania) today.

Like i said in the piece, to the allies and those doing the work - thank you. S x.
